Can I Be A Great People Leader?
Key Points:
- Bringing out the best in people comes naturally to a few people
- The rest of us have to learn what to do, keep seeking feedback and stick at it
- We can each find our own way
- But, the team is constantly changing, so there's always more to learn
What Does It Mean To Be Great?
Ultimately, how good you are as a leader of people will be judged primarily by performance.
But, the question is, relative to what?
Assuming you don't have the ability to set up a team from scratch and employee only world class individuals, then it has to be relative to their, and your, collective best.
So, in short, being a great people leader means, the ability to:
- bring out the best in everyone
- align them collectively to the task in hand
- sustain it over a long period
